Yesterday we went up to Jesse's Mom's house to visit his sister and brother-in-law who were over from Christmas Valley. We all went down to the swimming hole to cool off. Then we stole our nephew Khelben and took him to the Children's Festival in Jacksonville. I have to say, I love the Children's Festival. Mom used to volunteer every year, and Erin and I would help with bringing drinks and snacks to all the workers. Sometimes we painted faces, and sometimes we talked for the dragons from behind the two-way mirrors. I never wanted the sessions to end!
It was so fun to take a kid and be on the other end of things this year. Khelben had a blast and was a dream. He and Jesse built a sword, he made a leather necklace, petted snakes, made a plaster print of his hand, got knighted, ate snowcones and cotton candy, played with giant bubbles, and got his face painted like Spiderman. Have I said how much I love summer?

Independence Day
Jesse and I all ready to head to the Ashland parade. 21 weeks here. Yes, I know Jesse looks awesome in a kilt.
Jess and Dad waiting for the jet flyover
As per usual, the parade was replete with characters...
Gotta love Ashland.
No one told me my hat was backwards.
Our Beckah was walking with the animal shelter, and somehow I got distracted by this wienie and only took a picture of her feet... Sorry Beck.
Our dear old friend Kendra was walking with Camelot Theatre.
We even ran into our nephew, Oliver (in orange), who was with his grandparents!
Speaking of, these are my wonderful grandparents. We went to their house after the parade for lunch and swimming. While Jesse, Dad, and I were at the parade, everyone else was making peach ice cream and getting sandwiches and potato salad ready.
I LOVE the fourth of July!
Galbraith Family Reunion
Jesse and I sprang for our own hotel room, thinking we'd relax and swim and watch some TV. We got to the hotel at 7:15 pm, and we sat down to take our shoes off, still in our swimming suits. And we were out. Totally wiped and didn't wake up until morning. Ah well. It was a nice weekend.
